Magdalena Krubner recently shared a truly special story with us that we’re excited to pass along. Late last year, she came across a post by @Alexander Krubner, published by the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation on LinkedIn. The unusual surname piqued her curiosity, so she reached out to Alexander to congratulate him on his fellowship.

After some conversations with family and further research in their community, they made an incredible discovery: they found out they share the same grandfather – meaning they are actually half-cousins! Until then, Magdalena had no idea she had family near Salzburg, as she had never met her grandfather.

On January 2nd, they finally met in person – and it was an immediate, deep connection. They share many values and views, and are thrilled not only to have gained new family members, but also a new, valuable friendship. Sometimes the most valuable connections come from the most unexpected places!
