Karin Emprechtinger, Executive Director
Karin Emprechtinger is the first woman in the role of a full-time Executive Director of the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation (AMPF).
She studied Business Administration and Management in Vienna and began her career in finance and real estate. For over 15 years, she held key roles at Austria’s promotional bank, where she was responsible for numerous programs as well as strategic development. In this capacity, she worked closely with the Austrian government, significantly contributing to the design and implementation of economic support measures.
Her expertise in both the public and private sectors informs her leadership at AMPF, where she fosters transatlantic knowledge exchange through research grants, academic partnerships, and initiatives supporting talent. With her extensive economic and strategic background, she is dedicated to building lasting partnerships between universities, research institutions, and policy-makers. A strong advocate for gender equality, she is particularly committed to empowering women in academia, leadership, and international cooperation.
“The Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation is more than a funding institution — it’s a platform for building long-term, meaningful connections between people, ideas, and cultures. Our goal is to foster understanding and collaboration that go beyond borders.”
