Topic: Robotic mirror therapy device for sensory-motor hand rehabilitation

Hi, my name is Lukas Neururer, I study Medical Technologies, and I will spend the next five months at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. My project, which focuses on rehabilitation for patients with hand impairments, is a collaboration between the MCI Innsbruck, Yale School of Medicine, and Yale School of Engineering. This collaboration allows me to conduct a clinical study with stroke patients to compare a novel robotic mirror therapy device developed by the MCI Innsbruck to the conventional therapy method.

The device aims to help patients regain sensory-motor hand function and incorporates haptic feedback and virtual reality gamification to keep patients motivated during therapy. I am really enjoying my research stay abroad and am very grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this fascinating research.
