Topic: Estrogen Receptor-positive (ER+) Breast Cancer
Hello! My name is Nada Osman and I’m originally from Graz, Austria. Through the Marshall Plan Scholarship, I have the incredible opportunity to conduct research at the University of Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson. Breast cancer, especially estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer, can spread to other parts of the body under certain conditions—one key factor being its surrounding environment. My research focuses on how mechanical forces, like tissue stiffness, influence cancer cell behavior. By studying how these forces interact with estrogen and impact tumor cells, I hope to uncover new ways to slow or even prevent cancer from spreading. To do this, I’m working with breast cancer cells in the lab, testing how they respond to different mechanical conditions. This research could help improve targeted treatments for patients with aggressive ER+ breast cancer.
When I’m not in the lab, I’m out exploring Arizona’s breathtaking desert landscapes—especially among the giant Saguaro cacti! 🌵
Excited to be part of this journey and to contribute to the fight against cancer!
